PNB Holdings shifts to 100% renewable electricity across key properties

In a move to advance its sustainability efforts, PNB Holdings Corporation (PHC) has transitioned two of its flagship assets, PNB Makati Center along Ayala Avenue and PNB Financial Center in Pasay City, to 100 percent renewable electricity.

The transition is supported by an agreement with the First Gen Group (First Gen), which will supply more than five megawatts (MW) of geothermal power from its facility in Tongonan, Leyte, to support operations at the two properties.

Switching to a more sustainable power source. PNB Holdings Corporation (PHC) partners with the First Gen Group (First Gen) to directly supply geothermal energy to two of its prime properties, PNB Financial Center in Pasay City and PNB Makati Center, with the ceremonial switch-on event led by (from left) Arlene Sy Soriano, First Gen head of sales and engagement; Carlo Vega, First Gen chief customer engagement officer; Karlu T. Say, PHC president; and Ponciano S. Carreon Jr., PHC chief financial officer.

The transition underscores PHC’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its business operations and asset management strategy. As environmental considerations become increasingly important to tenants, investors, regulators, and other stakeholders, renewable energy adoption plays a growing role in supporting responsible business practices, enhancing operational resilience, and advancing long-term sustainability objectives.

For PHC, the shift to 100 percent renewable electricity is among its efforts to integrate sustainability into its operations. Energy consumption remains a significant contributor to a company’s environmental footprint, and the source of electricity plays a role in determining associated emissions.

The initiative reflects PHC’s focus on creating and managing real estate assets that remain competitive, relevant, and responsive to evolving stakeholder expectations as it pursues sustainable long-term growth.

A partnership with First Gen Group brings geothermal energy from Tongonan, Leyte, to PNB Makati Center and PNB Financial Center, helping power two of PNB Holdings' key properties with renewable electricity.
