Manila, Philippines – PNB Holdings Corporation launched its first-ever “Palaging Handa Caravan: A Disaster Preparedness Forum” on 16 August 2024, as part of its corporate social responsibility and stakeholder engagement. Two runs of the forum were conducted – the morning session at PNB Makati Center and the afternoon session at PNB Financial Center.

Designed to equip property stakeholders with essential knowledge and skills in disaster preparedness, the forum featured two leading experts on disaster science and resilience: Dr. Likha Minimo, Director of the Knowledge Sharing Division of the UP Resilience Institute and Dr. Ted Esguerra, a well-known international rescue and survival expert.

Dr. Minimo provided valuable insights into the importance of community resilience and the role of corporations in disaster risk reduction. Dr. Esguerra, known for his extensive experience in disaster response, captivated the audience with practical advice on survival strategies during emergencies.

Organized as part of PHC’s corporate citizenship advocacy, Project Solicitude, the event underscores the company’s commitment to contributing to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly in building sustainable and resilient cities.

“Our company’s success is deeply intertwined with the well-being and safety of our people and the communities we serve,” said Ms. Karlu T. Say, President of PNB Holdings. “The ‘Palaging Handa Caravan’ is a testament to our commitment to building a culture of preparedness and resilience with and among our stakeholders, aligning with the UN SDG 11 goal of building sustainable cities and communities.”

Disaster preparedness in the corporate environment is crucial. With the increasing frequency of natural disasters and unforeseen emergencies, it is essential that employees, tenants, property managers, and security personnel are aware of hazards to which they’re exposed and trained to respond to emergency and disaster situations effectively. By proactively preparing our community, we not only protect lives and properties but also ensure the sustainability of our business operations and foster stronger relationships within our network.

The afternoon session at the Long Gallery of PNB Financial Center showcased the venue’s suitability for corporate fora and events with a theater-style seating capacity of up to 400. The Long Gallery’s classic design blends functionality with a touch of elegance — with its high arch ceiling, cove lighting, marbled flooring and columns, and huge floor-to-ceiling windows — making it an ideal setting for a wide range of gatherings.

The “Palaging Handa Caravan” marks the beginning of a series of initiatives under Project Solicitude, as PNB Holdings continues to prioritize corporate social responsibility and disaster preparedness. By empowering its stakeholders with the knowledge and tools needed to face potential crises, the company is taking significant steps toward building a safer, more resilient future for all.
