Marikina City, Philippines – PNB Holdings Corporation (PHC) proudly participated in the country’s simultaneous cleanup drive in celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day on September 21, 2024 at Marikina River, Brgy. Nangka, Marikina City. PHC employees, security personnel, housekeeping staff, and tenant representatives volunteered for the massive cleanup efforts organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources national and regional offices.

This year’s nationwide cleanup drive successfully collected over 350,000 kilograms of various types of waste and debris, with participation from approximately 74,000 volunteers from different regions across the country.

International Coastal Cleanup Day is an annual event pioneered by Ocean Conservancy and gathers hundreds of thousands of volunteers worldwide from governmental, Not-for-Profit, and private sector organizations, to promote ocean health by cleaning lakes, rivers, and beaches. This global movement aims to combat the growing problem of marine debris and raise awareness about the importance of preserving our waterways.

Ms. Karlu T. Say, President of PNB Holdings, emphasized the significance of this initiative. “Our participation in International Coastal Cleanup Day reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement,” she said. “By working together to clean up the Marikina River, we are not only improving the local environment but also contributing to the global effort to protect our oceans and waterways,” Say added.

PHC, a member of the Lucio Tan Group of Companies, aligns with international movements and local organizations in promoting and participating in environmental initiatives. This effort is part of our social responsibility commitment to building better communities under our #ProjectSolicitude CSR campaign.
